The Nutcracker

MarLo Dance Studio presents the magical family holiday event of the year, “The Nutcracker,” at the Sprague Community Theater in Bandon.

MarLo dance productions have been drawing regularly sold out audiences from the greater Coos and Curry Counties and beyond for 23 years. “The Nutcracker,” no exception, is set to Tchaikovsky’s renowned score and premiers December 9 with 5 matinee and evening performances through December 17. This 2023 production is directed by Faith Slater and produced by studio owner Maria Merriam.

“The Nutcracker is a time-honored treasure for so many people during the holiday season. We are honored to be part of their traditions and welcome new audience members every year,” said producer Maria Merriam.

“There is something for everyone in this stunning family production, which captures the joyful holiday spirit and showcases the exceptional talents of the MDS dancers through the choreography and magnificent sets and dazzling costumes.”

MarLo Dance Studio’s breathtaking production of The Nutcracker makes this age-old holiday tradition sparkle like new. Audiences will be swept away as Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy, dancing toys, mischievous mice, sparkling snowflakes, waltzing flowers take them on a magical journey to the Land of Sweets.

All performances will take place at the Sprague Community Theater, 1202 11th Street SW, Bandon. The venue and length of performance are child friendly. Performances dates are December 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17. Friday and Saturday shows at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Pre-sale tickets, $20 Adults / $16 Children 10 & under. (Lap-sitting children age two and under are admitted free.) Tickets at the door, $25 Adults / $20 children 10 & under. MDS performances often sell-out, so early purchase is recommended.
