About the Show
Directed by Bryce Longland, this dramatization captures all the horror, suspense, and poignant humanity of Shelley’s original masterpiece.
Unlike many popular movie adaptations, Peterson’s adaptation adheres faithfully to Mary Shelley’s novel. Audiences will witness the creation of the monster in Victor Frankenstein’s laboratory, followed by his vulnerable journey through a strange, unfamiliar world. Intelligent, curious, and desperate for human warmth, the monster seeks friendship and love, particularly from Dr. Frankenstein’s fiancée, Elizabeth. However, rejected and feared by society simply for being different, his tragic isolation turns him into the terrifying monster of legend.
“This script is very close to the original novel. I chose this version because it maintained the structure of Shelley’s work,” Longland said. “Unlike the popular film version, the book has deeper interactions between the Monster and Victor Frankenstein that this script honors.”
Please note that, due to mature themes, this play is recommended for audience members age 10 and older.
