Laurelann Porter offers “Bare Bones in the Shadow Lands,” a sound healing, storytelling and song sharing experience, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, at the Sprague Community Theater.

“My work as a shamanic healer has centered mostly around grief: grief for loved ones we’ve lost as well as other kinds of grief. I find the most profound grief I’ve ever had to process is grief from my own disappointments at failing to meet my own expectations,” shares Porter.

“Most often our grief is layered. The layers it takes to unpeel get re-layered with each new loss we experience. This performance will highlight some of the songs that came through my shamanic song channeling process. The performance combines storytelling, ritual, and song to guide you through the wisdom and inspiration you may require to move with grace through your own shadow journey.”

This presentation includes mature themes, and / or strong language, and is recommended for teen and adult audience members.

Admission $11.50

More . . .

Laurelann Porter is a creative and intuitive healing artist. She began her career as a playwright, performer, director, filmmaker, and performance scholar. She holds academic degrees in theatre and playwriting, and she received her PhD in Theatre and Performance of the Americas at Arizona State University. She has directed and produced several short films, music videos, and two feature length documentary films. After a 2020-induced health crisis, Laurelann left academia to train as a shaman with the Four Winds Society under the guidance of world-renowned shaman, Alberto Villoldo. Her healing practice incorporates tools for shamanic energy medicine.

Laurelann’s performance specialty is autoethnographic solo performance work. Her experiences creating solo performance have equipped her with the tools for creating ritual and ceremony, developing one’s own personal mythology, and using one’s voice for creative expression as a vehicle for healing and transformation.

Delightfully exuberant and wildly entertaining, the Side of the Tide Morris Dancers have enthralled audiences throughout the South Coast for the last ten years. Celebrating nature and the change of the seasons, the joy of community, and the joy of dance, they provide an enchanting glimpse of life in the English countryside hundreds of years ago. Wearing tattered vests, our local Border Morris Dance troupe offers high energy dances with a bold knacking of staves and ringing of bells.

Show time is 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 28.
