The post Concert in the Park: Ritual Azteca first appeared on Bandon Events.]]> The Bandon Public Library presents a free concert and dance event at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the outdoor stage in Bandon City Park, 11th St. SW.

Ritual Azteca Huitzilopochtli features live music and authentic Aztec stories depicted in music and dance. Dancers will move to the rhythm of large standing huehuetl drums and ayoyote rattles. The symbolism of each dance is shared afterwards, and the audience is invited to use their imagination. After presenting several dance stories, the audience is invited to participate. Every participant is provided with an ayacaztli rattle and will learn some basic movements to fully participate in the ritual Azteca!

This concert in the park is presented by the Bandon Public Library. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. The program lasts approximately one hour. For more information, contact library staff at 541-347-3221.

In this hilarious comedy with heart, Ty shares anecdotes from his childhood in Southern Oregon, living in a rural home setting with no roads and no phones. He navigated learning disabilities, a speech impediment, even a tractor accident, to carve out a career in classical theater performance and standup comedy. If you hate Shakespeare, you will love this play. And, if you love Shakespeare, you will love this play.

Showtime is 7 p.m. on Friday, June 26. This presentation includes mature themes, and / or strong language, and is recommended for teen and adult audience members.

The post The Nutcracker first appeared on Bandon Events.]]> MarLo Dance Studio celebrates its 27th season with, “The Nutcracker,” a holiday celebration to share! Dancing toys, mischievous mice, waltzing flowers and sparkling snowflakes dance to Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous score. The 2025 production opens Saturday, Dec. 6, with four additional performances at the Sprague Community Theater in Bandon, Oregon.

This Christmas classic tells the story of Clara and her magical Nutcracker Prince as they embark on a thrilling adventure. MarLo Dance Studio bi-annually rings in the Christmas season with a family-friendly version to captivate audience members of all ages. MDS’s lavish scenery and costumes makes this ballet a family favorite.

Guest dancer Hadassah Slater joins the performance as the delicate, twirling Sugar Plum Fairy. Hadassah is an alumna of MarLo and company member of Ballet Fantastique, based in Eugene, Oregon.

“The Nutcracker” runs two weekends, opening with 3 p.m. matinees on December 6 and 7. A second weekend of performances is December 12, 13, 14. Performance times are 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
