SUMMARY:Auditions: The Diary of Anne Frank Play
DESCRIPTION:Bandon Playhouse is pleased to announce auditions for “The Diary of Anne Frank” on Saturday\, Dec. 20\, and Sunday\, Dec. 21. Audition time is 1 p.m.\, both days\, at the Sprague Community Theater in Bandon City Park. \nCast and crew ages 16 and older are invited. Those auditioning for character roles will be provided selections from the script for reading. Roles are available for five women\, five men and three extras. Performances are scheduled two weekends\, Feb. 27\, 28\, March 1\, 6\, 7\, 8\, 2026. \nBased on the autobiographical book “The Diary of a Young Girl\,” this powerful new stage adaptation by Wendy Kesselman presents the historic figure of Anne Frank as a living\, lyrical\, intensely gifted girl. She confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with honesty\, wit and determination. An impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding in a concealed attic space during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands\, “The Diary of Anne Frank” captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence – their fear\, their hope\, their laughter\, their grief. \nEach day of the two dark years\, Anne’s voice shines through: “When I write\, I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people\, even those I’ve never met. I want to go on living even after my death!” This play is a new adaptation for a new generation. \nBandon Playhouse has provided the best in community theater\, from classic plays and musicals to premiere works by new playwrights\, since 1976.
