The “Voting in Oregon” event takes place 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, at the Sprague Community Theater.

The Employee Retention Credit (ERC) and its updates are part of the COVID-19 legislation. The credit is for employers whose businesses were affected by COVID-19 at any time from March 12, 2020 through the third quarter of 2021. If an employer was eligible for the credit during the entire eligibility period, the credit could be as high as $26,000 per employee! This is money back in your bank account. Join Anne to learn about eligibility requirements, how to calculate qualified wages, and how to claim the credit. The time period to claim the credit starts to phase out in July 2023!

Denny Dyke and the Bandon Public Library invite you to a slideshow presentation and talk on Saturday, March 21, at 3 p.m. at the Bandon Community Center.

Denny’s Circles in the Sand labyrinths have become landmarks in Bandon, and he has been featured on Oregon Field Guide and NBC Nightly Evening News. The beach labyrinths are a frequent destination for visitors and residents.

Denny Dyke is from Southern California and moved to Coquille, Oregon in 2007 and is enjoying everything the coast has to offer.

Denny walked his first labyrinth in 2002 and has been creating and walking them ever since. He started Circles in the Sand in 2011 as special project of his labyrinth ministry Sacred Journeys. Drawing labyrinths on the beach for all to experience walking a labyrinth path became a passion, and in 2015 Denny started a full time schedule of public events.

Palmer’s newest publication, “America’s Great Mountain Trails: 100 Highcountry Hikes of a Lifetime” (Rizzoli, 2019), is a showcase of beauty and adventure found in mountains across the country. On March 11, Palmer will share a slide show with images from the book and take audiences on a visual mountain tour– including hikes on the Southern Oregon Coast. The free book talk is presented by the Cape Arago Audubon Society and the Kalmiopsis Audubon Society at the Bandon Community Center.

Stunning photography, along with Palmer’s storytelling, make an engaging presentation for audiences.

Palmer’s work has been recognized with honors such as the Indie Silver Award for Adventure, Sports and Recreation; Indiefab Nature Book of the Year; and the Benjamin Franklin Book Award for the best American book on nature and the environment.

Oregon coast residents may want to check out Palmer’s “Field Guide to Oregon Rivers” (Oregon State University Press, 2014), winner of the National Outdoor Book Award. The guide covers 120 rivers and includes notes on nature and conservation as well as fishing, hiking and paddling.
