The Kingston Trio comes to the Sprague Community Theater, in concert on Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m.

Admission is $50, and advance tickets are available at Eventbrite.

Fans of legendary folk icons The Kingston Trio can re-discover their timeless music all over again, after a forced nearly two-year hiatus due to pandemic restrictions as the group returns to their national tour.

All three current members, Mike Marvin, Tim Gorelangton and Buddy Woodward have intrinsic links to and experience with the original group: Mike is the adopted son of founding member Nick Reynolds, who was also his musical mentor; Tim, a close friend since boyhood, is one of the few musicians outside the Trio who has recorded with Nick Reynolds; and Buddy, who has performed with longtime Kingston Trio member George Grove. Many of their personal memories recall the iconic trio’s performances and journey as folk music made its extraordinary ascent to the pinnacle of popular culture – and the top of the music charts. They’ll perform such timeless classics “Where Have All The Flowers Gone?” and “Tom Dooley.”

The Portland Guitar Duo comes to the Sprague Community Theater on Friday, April 21, at 7 p.m. This free concert and music history event is presented by the Bandon Library Friends and Foundation.

With a shared enthusiasm for the duo medium, James Manuele and Foti Lycouridis formed the Portland Guitar Duo in 1999. “Guitarology” is a program that offers a unique look at the history of the guitar and lute through Historical Performance, tracing the development of the instruments through 5 centuries of music with a collection that includes Renaissance and Baroque lutes, Baroque guitars, Romantic guitars of the 1800s, 10-string guitar and Modern classical guitars.

The duo discusses the aesthetics, repertoire, playing techniques, instrument construction and composers of each period, offering a distinct insight on the historical evolution of guitar music. This program gives expression to the current trend of correct historical interpretation and offers a comprehensive examination of one of the most versatile instruments in music history.

Admission is free, and seating is offered on a first come, first served basis.
The post Portland Guitar Duo first appeared on Bandon Events.

Ian’s original musical compositions bring to life specific places and stories from his home. He’ll perform music familiar to the Hawaiian Islands with many pieces reflecting the sounds of the islands. Say “aloha” to your worries for an evening.

This concert is presented by Bandon Showcase. Admission is $25 per person.
