Named after Munich’s iconic Arcis Street, Arcis Saxophone Quartet has emerged as one of the most active classical ensembles globally. The enseble transports audiences with an enigmatic blend of original material, classical pieces and Broadway show tunes. Their seamless blend of classically informed musicianship and contemporary energy will transform your notion of saxophone sound.

The student repertoire this year will be: Quartet in A minor for Violin, Viola and Two Cellos, Op. 35 by Anton Arensky; String Quintet, Menuetto by Luigi Boccherini (arr. Hellmesberger); Allemande from String Quintet in C major by Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf; Piano Quartet in A minor by Joaquin Turina.

Experience classical music on the Southern Oregon Coast! Students attending the Redfish Music Festival will perform works they have studied all week. Students and Faculty of the Redfish Music Festival perform classical chamber music works in a varied program. Twelve students from around the country and four faculty members will be in residence on the southern coast of Oregon for a week and perform in Bandon as part of the Redfish Music Festival.

Enjoy the Bandon performance at the Sprague Community Theater on Saturday, August 6, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults. Youth under age 18 are admitted free. Tickets are available in advance at the Redfish festival website and at the door.

Save the date for an evening with an award-winning and chart-topping classical performer– Tien’s keyboard mastery is matched only by her magnetic engagement with audiences. Show time is 7:30 p.m., and admission is $25 per person.

Tien has toured the globe, performing ensemble concerts and solo recitals. Her MSR Classics recording “Bach & Beethoven: Mostly Transcriptions 2” earned critical praise, topped the Amazon Best Sellers list twice, and remained a best seller for two consecutive months in 2015.

In Bandon, Tien looks forward to a program of (mostly) preludes, pairing Chopin’s 24 Preludes, Op. 28 with Scriabin’s 24 Preludes, Op. 11, with a taste of Rachmaninov to round out the program.

Munich’s Arcis Saxophone Quartet comes to Bandon’s Sprague Community Theater March 21– the final act in a dynamic 2019/2020 season from Bandon Showcase.

Expect an energetic and unforgettable performance. This award-winning quartet takes a fresh approach to chamber music, with expertly arranged repertoire. Members are Claus Hierluksch, soprano saxophone; Ricarda Fuss, alto saxophone; Edoardo Zotti, tenor saxophone; and Jure Knez, baritone saxophone.

At the Sprague Community Theater, Arcis will present “American Dreams,” a journey through a broad musical exhibition of the American way of life. The program features works by celebrated composers Steve Reich, Antonin Dvořák, Leonard Bernstein, Samuel Barber and George Gershwin.
