Bandon Playhouse is excited to announce auditions for “Frankenstein: The Monster Play,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22; and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, at the Sprague Community Theater. The ensemble cast features roles for actors age 12 and older.

Performances will be staged two weekends, Oct. 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, and Nov. 1, at the Sprague Community Theater. Find a character list and preview audition materials at BandonPlayhouse.org.

This dramatization of the Mary Shelley novel by Christopher O’Neal captures all the horror, mystery and suspense that the world has come to associate with the title “Frankenstein.” We see the monster come to life in the laboratory. We see his innocent curiosity as he stumbles around in his strange new world. And we see him become a ferocious, terrifying monster, because he had no other way to go.

“Frankenstein: The Monster Play” adheres to the novel, depicting Shelley’s monster as intelligent, curious and yearning for companionship. Among other things, the Frankenstein monster symbolizes the uncontrollable monster that science can become. And, of course, the monster symbolizes all the misfits in the world— the unloved, unwanted specimens of humankind.

The Bandon Playhouse production of “Frankenstein” is directed by Bryce Longland and by arrangement with Dramatic Publishing.
The post Auditions: Frankenstein first appeared on Bandon Events.
