SUMMARY:Shifting Balance: Trinity Alps Chamber Players
DESCRIPTION:The Trinity Alps Chamber Players return to the Oregon coast on Sunday\, March 8\, to present a concert at 2:00 p.m. at the Sprague Community Theater. \nPianist Ian Scarfe and cellist Charles Akert will present a program entitled “Shifting Balance\,” an afternoon of music and storytelling\, featuring works for cello and piano by Beethoven\, Schumann\, Rachmaninoff and Chopin. \nAdmission is by donation at the door. Pay what you can– all are welcome. \nListeners will hear the shifting balance between the instruments\, as Scarfe and Akert showcase a variety of classical\, romantic\, and contemporary examples of duos written for two virtuoso performers. With each composer\, and each era\, different musical ideals are highlighted: the explosive energy and rapid-fire piano writing of the young Beethoven\, the lyrical melodies of Frederic Chopin\, the lush harmonic world and famous Russian cello sound of Sergei Rachmaninoff\, and the rustic folk song influence in Robert Schumann. \nOther surprises are in store as well\, as audiences can expect a “behind the scenes” experience with Scarfe and Akert. Both performers will be sharing stories that illuminate the history of the composers\, the context of their music\, and specific examples that serve as a listening guide for the performance. \nScarfe and Akert have performed together since 2007\, and have a long history of concerts across the United States\, Canada\, and Europe.

Co-directors are Amy Moss Strong and Breezy Robert. \nPlay synopsis: The Palace Theatre actors are just getting ready to rehearse the final scene for their latest production\, “I Ain’t Got No Body\,” when they run into a snag. The director who wrote the play is found dead onstage. Lois is shocked into an allergy attack! Ava faints! Luther orders a pizza! There’s a lot of disbelief among the troupe until it becomes quite evident that Dexter Allan has\, indeed\, shuffled off this mortal coil. Not only that\, he owed several of the actors a lot of money. And then Frances dies\, only she doesn’t really die. And then the pizza kid shows up … only he really isn’t the pizza kid. The only thing they are sure of is their director is dead … or is he? Timothy accuses Gordon\, Glenda accuses Dana\, Luther can’t figure out where his pizza is and baby-faced detective Jimmy Todd has to put together all the clues. Clues intermingle with unveiled threats as cast member turns against cast member. Who heard Dexter’s final words? Who kept threatening him for all to hear? There are parts with large line counts\, some medium\, some small\, and some without any lines – just extra cast members. \nThe production will include a front-end segment in the form of the old “Hee Haw” television show. This segment is still in development and may include jokes\, music\, and possibly a dance or two. \nThe production dates are April 17 – 19 and April 24 – 26\, 2020. Rehearsals start in February.
